FFmpeg Plugins 2.3 Release Notes

Unfortunately, we missed deploying the Release Notes for the MainConcept Plugins for FFmpeg v2.3 before. For the sake of completeness, we have added them.

General new Features in Plugins for FFmpeg 2.3:

•     Plugins now use libraries from MainConcept Codec SDK 14.0
  

 

New Features in VVC Encoder Plugin for FFmpeg 2.3:

•        Implemented a "perf_level" parameter that can be directly used on the FFmpeg command-line to achieve an optimal balance between quality and performance
  

 

New Features in Hybrid HEVC Encoder Plugin for FFmpeg 2.3:

•        For transcoding purposes HDR-10 metadata and SEI messages are now passed through and preserved
  

 

New Features in AVC Encoder Plugin for FFmpeg 2.3:

•        For transcoding purposes HDR-10 metadata and SEI messages are now passed through and preserved
  

Resolved issues in AVC Encoder Plugin for FFmpeg 2.3:

•        [MCFFMPEG-45] Updated sample_enc_avc config file so that it is in sync with MainConcept AVC Encoder library again and is not causing warning messages anymore
  

 

New Features in AVC Broadcast Encoder Plugin for FFmpeg 2.3:

•        For transcoding purposes HDR-10 metadata and SEI messages are now passed through and preserved
  

Resolved issues in AVC Broadcast Encoder Plugin for FFmpeg 2.3:

•        [MCFFMPEG-45] Updated sample_enc_avc config file so that it is in sync with MainConcept AVC Encoder library again and is not causing warning messages anymore
  

 

New Features in MPEG-2 Production Format Encoder Plugin for FFmpeg 2.3:

•        Use MainConcept’s industry leading MPEG-2 software encoder and MXF Multiplexer natively in FFmpeg.
  
•       MPEG-2 encoding support for up to 4:2:2 8-bit. 
  
•        Pre-configured profiles for professional Sony XDCAM HD and XDCAM IMX camcorder content creation, including MainConcept MXF multiplexing
  
•        Ready-to-use presets for Sony XDCAM EX, DVB, ATSC, DVD, HDV, D10, etc.
  
•        Use FFmpeg’s built-in multiplexers like MP4 directly.
  
•        Use FFmpeg’s built-in audio encoders like PCM or AAC directly.
  
•        Tune all MainConcept codec features via a separate config file
  

 

New Features in HEVC Decoder Plugin for FFmpeg 2.3:

•        The HEVC Decoder now passes the correct colorimetry values to the MainConcept AVC and HEVC Encoder Plugins for HDR conversion
  

Resolved issues in HEVC Decoder Plugin for FFmpeg 2.3:

•        [MCFFMPEG-42] Fixed crash when using smp_mode=1 setting

•        Use Fraunhofer’s industry leading MPEG-H software encoder natively in FFmpeg by using a MainConcept plugin

•        Support for live MPEG-H Audio encoding workflows 
  
•        Support for MPEG-H 3D Audio Baseline and Low Complexity Profiles
  
•        Automatic Fallback mode switch in case of Control Track loss or interruption
  
•        Encoding for MPEG-DASH compliant streaming use-cases

New Features in MPEG-2 TS Broadcast Delivery Plugin for FFmpeg 2.3:

•        Plugin now also supports MPEG-1 audio for DVB compliant stream creation.
  

Resolved issues in MPEG-2 TS Broadcast Delivery Plugin for FFmpeg 2.3:

•        [MCFFMPEG-44] Fixed async issue when multiplexing an H.264/AVC MP4 file with an AAC Elementary Stream into MPEG-2 TS.
