MainConcept Plugin for AS-11 Export in DaVinci Resolve – Rendering Error Help Needed

Hi everyone,
I recently installed the demo version of the MainConcept plugin along with their codec pack to try exporting AS-11 files directly from DaVinci Resolve. Unfortunately, I haven’t found much in the way of documentation or tutorials on their official website—just one brief video showing an older beta version of Resolve 17.
I’m currently using DaVinci Resolve 18.1.3 on macOS Ventura 13.6.4, and when I attempt to export an AS-11 file using this plugin, I keep running into an error message:
Rendering Error: The color model is not supported.
Has anyone here come across this issue? If you’ve successfully used this MainConcept AS-11 export feature, could you kindly share your export settings? I suspect I may have something configured incorrectly.
Here’s what I’ve been using:

• Format: MainConcept MXF
  
• Codec: UK DPP
  
• Type: DPP AS-11 HD
  
• Interlaced Rendering: Top Field First 50i
  
• Data Levels: Video
  
• Color Space Tag: Rec.. 709
  
• Gamma Tag: Gamma 2.4
  

I’ve experimented with a few variations, but the error keeps appearing. Any tips, tricks, or working setups would be greatly appreciated.

Hi William,

DaVinci Resolve 18.1.3 and macOS Ventura 13.6.4 are very old versions. Using exactly the same versions and older version of the MC plugin our QA department was able to reproduce this error at our side too. The MC plugin itself supports BT.709 and BT.806, so there is no limitation that would lead to this error. The Resolve Studio has a huge list of gamma tags and each has own purpose. In case a tag does not match the names we use inside the MC plugin, we set it to default settings. Looks like that was the case in the combination of the old version of macOS, Resolve Studio and MC plugin. The new version of the MC plugin correctly sets bt709, as in your settings, and this does not cause any errors or problems.

Therefore, we suggest you to update DaVinci Resolve to version 19 at least, also to update the MC plugin to the latest 1.7.1. Please carefully read the Release Notes, there is a conflict between different NVIDIA SDK versions used by MC plugin and RS, so maybe you want to stick to the previous release 1.6 / 1.6.1.
