This plugin comes close to meeting my needs, but as it exists today it doesn't particularly help me.
I am a somewhat unusual case in that I primarily edit video for my own personal use (denoise, color correct, etc. commercial DVDs and BDs) and store the output ton hard drives for convenience. Render time is substantial at each step of the chain (denoise, upres, color correct/sharpen and finally h265 encoding) so reducing time needed at any point in the chain would be highly desirable.
My biggest complaint with the current h265 encoder is that I am stuck with industry-standard options, which I recognize is probably not an issue for the primary video production audience. Personally, I change several settings in Handbrake to increase quality and/or decrease file size when compared to using the default settings. If I had access to same settings in this plugin the long term time and convenience factor would probably win out, even though I consider the price to be quite high for something I believe should have been integrated by Blackmagic years ago.
The second issue is that while I have purchased several plugins for Davinci Resolve (Neat Video, Samurai Sharpen, Beauty Box 4) I don't actually need any of the features of Studio at this time. I would definitely buy a plugin that would give me the same h265 encoding options Handbrake has in Resolve, but making me buy Studio to buy your plugin changes the financial calculus. At that point a second GPU starts to make more sense.
While I have no idea how large or small the market might be, a plugin aimed at consumers might expand your range of potential customers. I recognize the current plugin pack has a lot to offer the video professional, but everything in the plugin pack outside of h265 support doesn't offer much value to the prosumer that doesn't shoot video.
Configurable h265 support that works with the free version of Davinci Resolves and renders 20% faster than Handbrake? It would feel expensive but I could see how that might save enough time in the long run to put $100 into it. With the heavy lifting of integrating into Resolve and creating the faster h265 process already completed I can't imagine that you'd need too many sales to turn a profit on something like this.
I don't expect you reply that you're going to start work on it immediately, but I'd appreciate it if you guys would at least take it under advisement.
