H264 for Web Encoding

Hi,
What about the H264 encoding for web delivery like YouTube? Also, how do you integrate your FFMPEG plug-ins which use the GPU to help increase encoding speeds and port that over to Resolve? Is it possible? Is it in the future?

Hello,

We are planning to add some generic H.264 / AAC in MP4 8-bit and 10-bit presets to the Codec Plugin in one of the next releases. These new presets will make use of the MainConcept AVC/H.264 Software Encoder. This option will be similar to what we already offer for HEVC right now.

However, DaVinci Resolve Studio already offers H.264 GPU encoding for Intel Quick Sync Video and NVIDIA NVENC, so currently there is nothing planned for this codec on the plugin side.

But we are investigating GPU accelerated encoding options for HEVC/H.265. We are currently checking the possibility of adding Hybrid GPU accelerated HEVC encoding for NVIDIA RTX boards to our Codec Plugin for DaVinci Resolve Studio.

I too would appreciate a Generic 10-Bit H.264 option for web delivery as there is no 10-Bit H.264 option in Resolve. Frank any thoughts on a timeline so I know when I can purchase it?

The timeline is not yet finalized, but currently the plan is to release a new version with generic AVC/H.264 8-bit and 10-bit presets in Q4 / 2021. As soon as I have some more precise date, I will post it in this thread.

This would be wonderful, as even with the NVIDIA options I've had quite a few intensive renders with wonky artifacts. The Resolve H.264 for whatever reason seems to have issues.
