FFMPEG Plugins 3.0 Release Notes

General new Features in Plugins for FFmpeg 3.0:

•      Plugin now also works with latest FFmpeg 6.0 “Von Neumann”
  
•        Plugins now use libraries from MainConcept Codec SDK 14.2
  
•        Added version and copyright information to OMX plugins and common FFmpeg plugins libraries
  

 

New Features in VVC Encoder Plugin for FFmpeg 3.0:

•        Plugin now uses the MainConcept VVC/H.266 Encoder from Codec SDK 14.2
  
•        Temporal filtering, adaptive quantization and RDOQ support in VVC/H.266 video encoder, resulting in compression efficiency improvements of up to 15%
  

 

New Features in Hybrid HEVC Encoder Plugin for FFmpeg 3.0:

•        Temporal filtering support in the HEVC/H.265 video encoder
  

 
Resolved issues in Hybrid HEVC Encoder Plugin for FFmpeg 3.0:

•        [MCFFMPEG-51] The plugin now reports an error when specifying an incorrect HEVC Config file path
  

New Features in AVC Broadcast Encoder Plugin for FFmpeg 3.0:

•        Temporal filtering support in the AVC/H.264 video encoder
  

 
New Features in MPEG-2 Production Format Encoder Plugin for FFmpeg 3.0:

•        Tune all MainConcept codec features on FFmpeg command-line, too
  
•        Plugin now also allows proper interlaced encoding
  

 
New Features in MPEG-H Encoder Plugin for FFmpeg 3.0:

•        Update to Fraunhofer’s latest MPEG-H software encoder v03_04_01
  
•        The parameter value naming of the “pmd_preset” option changed to the same structure as in “fallback_mode_behavior”, i.e. “cicp_1, cicp_2, etc. It was correctly documented in the User Guide but did not work when applying the values in the actual plugin
  

Resolved issues in MPEG-H Encoder Plugin 3.0:

•        [MCFFMPEG-48] Fixed infinite loop when specifying more output channels than available in the input.
  

 
New Features in xHE-AAC Encoder Plugin for FFmpeg 3.0:

•        Updated to Fraunhofer xHE-AAC software encoder library v04.05.00.
