Broadcaster rejection because of the plugin

Hi there,

I've just had a call with the QC/ingest people at TG4, a broadcaster in Ireland.  They've just told me that they are not allowed to ingest anything on to the servers that's been rendered using the plugin as it creates a mismatch between the audio duration and the video duration.  This leads to it being rejected by various rebroadcasters including Sky TV.  I can't imagine this is the first time you've heard this.  The solution previously has apparently been to rewrap the dpp (or something like that) but this is a reactive solution and having bought the plugin I'd be happier knowing it wasn't an issue, or, it's been fixed and is no longer something to be concerned about.

Thank you for letting us know about this issue. This may sound strange, but we did not hear about this issue from our users before. Also, I could not find similar posts on the Blackmagic Forum.

There was an issue:
MCBMD-60: AS-11 UK DPP Descriptive Metadata: Sum of AS-11 segments not equal to file duration.
However, it was resolved starting from version 1.5. Our QA re-tested this issue using the latest version of the MC plugin (1.7.1) and Resolve Studio (20), and the export looks good, there was no any duration mismatch. Is your broadcaster experiencing the same problem? Or it is a different one?

Can you provide us with more details so that we could reproduce and fix your problem?
- which plugin version did they use?
- did they try the latest 1.7.1? Does it behave the same?
- which video format / preset did they use?
- can they share the source file and exported file for our investigation? If yes, you can upload files here.

Hi, I should have clarified that the Broadcaster didn't say they were experiencing the issue currently, but that they had and were told to reject anything rendering using the plugin and clearly they hadn't reached out to you to see if the issue was fixed which it sounds like it is so now I can tell them that it's fine.

I'm using Resolve 19.1.4 and the latest version of the plugin which is 1.6.1 I think so I suspect it's all good and will let them know.

Yes, it would be better if they contact us directly and explain the issue in more detail. That would help us to understand the problem, warn other users about such issue and find appropriate solution, since we are still not sure if it is the same bug or not. Your Broadcaster can still contact us at any time on the Forum, submit a web form on the website or send us an email.

We recently released version 1.7.1 and it is available for evaluation here. Please carefully read the Release Notes, there is a conflict between different NVIDIA SDK versions used by MC plugin and RS, so maybe you want to stick to 1.6 / 1.6.1 release.
